Description
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a colorless and highly toxic acidic gas. It is an inorganic compound. It has no obvious smell at high concentrations, has a strong smell of rotten eggs at low concentrations, and has a sulfur smell at very low concentrations. In industrial applications, hydrogen sulfide is used in the flotation process of sulfide ores and is also an important raw material for the production of sulfur and sulfuric acid. Furthermore, in laboratories it is used as an analytical reagent, for example in the qualitative analysis of heavy metal ions.

Analytical chemistry
Hydrogen sulfide can react with metal cations to form water-insoluble sulfide precipitates, which are used for the separation and determination of metal ions
Preparation of sulfides
Hydrogen sulfide reacts with metal ions to form different sulfides, such as iron sulfide, zinc sulfide, etc. These sulfides are widely used in the manufacture of metal sulfide pigments, electroplating, synthetic rubber, catalysts, etc.
Desulfurizer
Hydrogen sulfide can react with sulfuric acid to form hydrogen sulfide acid, which is used to remove hydrogen sulfide from petroleum and natural gas to reduce environmental pollution
Disinfectant
Hydrogen sulfide has a strong bactericidal effect and can be used for disinfection in industrial production processes
