Description:
Isobutane, also known as 2-methylpropane, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C4H10. It is a colorless flammable gas under normal temperature and pressure. It can form explosive mixtures with air. It mainly exists in natural gas, refinery gas and cracked gas. It is obtained through physical separation. It is mainly used to produce isooctane through alkylation with isobutylene. It can be used as an improver of gasoline octane number and can also be used as Freeze.
Typical Application:
Refrigerant
Isobutane is often used as a refrigerant for household refrigerators and air conditioners, and is numbered R600a. Due to its environmentally friendly characteristics, it has gradually replaced traditional Freon refrigerants in recent years.
Chemical Raw Materials
In the chemical industry, isobutane has a variety of applications. It can be used to produce alkylation gasoline, dehydrogenation to produce isobutylene, steam cracking to produce ethylene and propylene, etc.
Gasoline Additives
High-purity isobutane can be used to produce high-grade gasoline and reduce the explosion phenomenon of fuel vehicle engines. In addition, isobutane can also react with isobutylene to prepare isooctane, which is used as a gasoline octane improver to improve the quality and performance of gasoline.
Mixture Gases/Calibration Gases
High-purity isobutane is mainly used as standard gas and for preparing special standard mixed gas.
